12 injured during turbulence on flight to Houston

At least 12 people were injured Wednesday during turbulence on a flight from Tampa, Fla., to Houston.?

United Airlines officials said Flight 1727 experienced the heavy turbulence over?Lake Charles, La.

The plane landed at 7:30 a.m. at Bush Intercontinental Airport.?Officials said 152 people were on board the Boeing 737, including six crew members and 146 passengers.

Eight people were transported to area hospitals, according to an airport spokeswoman. Their conditions were not released.

At least two crew members were among the injured and wore neck-braces as they were wheeled out of the airport on stretchers.

The rest of the injuries were described as minor and treated on the scene.
