Us??ing the iPad for business just got easier with enhanced software and power. OnLive, the online gaming service, has used its technology to create OnLive Desktop Plus, offering a full-fledged version of Windows 7 and Word, Excel and PowerPoint for the iPad.
With Windows 7 and Internet Ex??plorer available, you can use Gmail or another webmail plus Google Calendar and third-party storage sites such as Dropbox or Box.net, allowing you to move files onto and off your iPad from the Mac or PC. And a big plus is it also comes with a full version of Flash for Windows, which means you can view all those files that you haven?t been able to run on the iPad. All this for $4.99 a month and it?s remarkably fast.
?The PC that?s driving the iPad Windows is a ?farm? of computers at one of three data centers thousands of miles away,? reports The New York Times. ?Every time you tap the screen, scroll a list or type on the on-screen key??board, you?re sending signals to those distant computers. The screen image is blasted back to your iPad with astonishing little lag.? With On??Live?s virtual PCs, you don?t have to worry about software updates or viruses.
OnLive is also working on bringing this to Android tablets, iPhones, iPod Touches, Macs and PCs?even TVs. An OnLive Pro version is also in the works that would allow you to run Photo??shop, Firefox, Autodesk, games, etc.
